The Model 3 Road Trip

stopped in North Carolina, at the Charlotte and Burlington Superchargers, on December 29th, 2017. Don, Johnny, and I were fortunate to be able to meet with them in Burlington which is about a 52 mile 1h20m drive from our home. This was our first time seeing a M3 in person. I'm sure this was true for most of the people at the event. The event was pushed back several times as timing logistics were hard to pin down and I believe the Model 3 Road Trip team really gave each stop their full time and attention. Although we were cold and it was late at night, our excitement never waned.
While we waited, we entertained ourselves with great conversation, the Merry X-Mas show, and some "performance demonstrations."
The Model 3 Road Trip crew gave everyone a test drive that had signed up for one. They went out for 3 half hour test drives with 3, 3, and then 2 drivers besides the team. Don was the last to drive.
The team asked for $10 donation to drive to help offset their supercharging costs on the trip, and we did that.
Don was able to sit in the car OK. Autopilot was a little more loose than in our MX. It wandered within the lane a bit more. Could that be a faulty sensor or that the software needs more refinement? Not sure, but I believe Tesla will address this either way.
I believe Johnny had a lifetime moment in getting to sit in the M3. I don't think he'll ever forget being there for the event. My heart is warm with all the kindness and patience everyone gave him especially Chris with the BMW I3.
